Food Chemistry Laboratory

Lab Area: 240 Sq.m.

The lab is used for chemical analysis of food. Various components of food like carbohydrates, Protein, Fat minerals can be quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed in this lab. The lab includes equipments like Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, MicroKhjeldhal Assembly, and Filtration assemblies with all other required glassware and chemicals.

Food Microbiology Laboratory

Lab Area: 240 Sq.m.

It is used for microbial analysis of food, Fruit Juice etc. The lab includes instruments like Microscope, Laminar Air Flow, B O D Incubator, Autoclave, Rotary Shaking Machine. The experiments conducted in the lab involves determination of Total Plate Count, Yeast and Mold Count, Staining of Bacteria, isolation, culturing and controlled growth of selective micro organisms.

Product Development

Lab Area: 120 Sq.m.

The lab mainly utilized for development of various processed food products like different beverages, Jam, Jelly, Ketchup, bread, cookies, cakes and other bakery products . The lab is having facilities required for these products. In addition the lab includes Bakery Oven, dough Kneader, Microwave oven, SS utensils, weighing balances.

Unit Operation Laboratory

Lab Area: 50 Sq.m.

This laboratory is having various equipments for unit operations used in food processing. Experiments on demonstrations of various mixing devices and separating devices are carried out.

Highly Perishable Product Processing Laboratory

Lab Area: 240 Sq.m.

The lab is mainly used for development and analysis of perishable food product like milk and milk products (Icecream, condensed milk, cream). The laboratory is equipped with cream separator, Centrifuge, Milko Tester, Boiler, steam jacketed kettle, Bottle sterilizer, twin screw extruder, Red Wood Viscometer.

Heat & Mass Transfer Laboratory

Lab Area: 240 Sq.m.

This lab is particularly used for studying engineering properties of Food. The lab contains experimental models or single and double effect evaporator, Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger, Particle size analyzer (Sieve analysis), Minimal Fruit Processing line and other equipments necessary for study food properties.

Rheology and Packaging Material Testing Laboratory

Lab Area: 120 Sq.m.

This lab is particularly used for rheological characteristics of food and food packaging material testing. The laboratory is equipped with Texture analyzer, GSM Tester, Solar cookers, Vacuum Drier, Cabinet Drier, Cobb Tester, Thickness dial gage.
